Riding home through Maida Vale last night, taxi driver turns left right across the front of me, miss him by inches, and then he stops totally to give me a mouthfull (although I'm not sure what I'd done!) before driving off. Already in a foul mood, the old red mist descends and I turn after him to see if he wants to discuss it further. Give up after about half a mile when I relase I'm riding into quite a dodgy looking estate, but not without a parting exchange between us.

Anyway there's these 3 guys, late teens early 20's (and if you believe the daily hate they'd be walking ASBO's - or gangsters - they did look pretty mean!) that witness our final exchange. As I'm turning round they ask me whether I'm allright and what had happened, so I tell them briefly. They laugh and tell me I'm a mentalist for chasing him but agree in my assessment of him. They then tell me that all cyclists are Evil or Very Mad mental but they love it, especuially the olympics, apparently they are the most mental riding "that wall of death thing with no brakes!" So I tell them that I've done that although nowhere near that level and they then decide that I'm a proper mentalist. They then ask if I know Bradley Wiggins and spend a few minutes enthusing about him and ask if I know that he's local before moving onto that "Scottish guy McHoy"!! Must have chatted for a few minutes before we head off on our seperate ways with them wishing me well.

Made me smile the rest of the way home!!

I had a similar thing a couple of years ago, with a small 'gang' of yoofs that had seen me have a verbal exchange with some clown or other. One of them asked if I was alright and whether I wanted them to go and give the blokes' car a good shoeing. Laughing

And the irony is that if it wasn't for Westminster Council under Lady Porter, then they would have had Paddington Track on their doorstep so that they could try the sport out.
