i've ridden with some schwalbe cross tyres on all winter - - I think you would have to hammer a nail into them to puncture them - and I can duck through any park, track or shortcut - and haven't noticed it to be much harder

Specialized Armadillo.

I have ridden all sorts of tyres for many years commuting to central London, panniers like yourself. The Specialized are without doubt the most puncture resistant I have used.

They are truly awful in the wet, extra super care must be taken.

+1 and with slime tubes. Cannot afford to puncture at 6:00 am in January on a 25 mile commute! Got glass in one last year, hissed for a couple of seconds and still managed to ride in without losing hardly any pressure - fit & forget Very Happy
Haven't had any problems in the wet either so it must be Roys handling skills, I suggests he gets over to Hog Hill to work on them Wink

I've used the panaracer kevlar strips inside my tyres (Schwalbe Lugano) since last autumn, and haven't had a puncture for 5 months (and I used to average 1 a week). You should see some of the pieces of glass I've pulled out of my tyres without puncturing.

One of the best investments I've made, highly recommended.

I'll be along soon to grovel in blank-licence races to do exactly as you suggest, as well as improving my climbing ability.

I listen to this advice.

I do too - but only when I take off my tinfoil radiobeam reducing hat... <sigh>
