SweetSpot, organisers of The Halfords Tour Series have today announced the full list of professional cycling teams that will battle it out for glory in this year’s racing series. The 2010 Halfords Tour Series boasts the strongest line up yet of the UK’s elite riders. This follows the creation of several new teams and intense transfer activity in the close-season.

The ten selected teams include some of the greatest road and track racing talent produced in the UK in the last 20 years. They compete to wear the coveted Halfords leader jersey and to be crowned the champion team in Britain.

High profile Halfords Tour Series riders will include Olympians Chris Newton, Rob Hayles and Ed Clancy, as well as a host of the best established and upcoming domestic talent the sport has to offer.

Other elite riders in the Halfords Tour Series include Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and Vuelta a Espana points jersey winner, Malcolm Elliot and 2008 National Criterium Champion, Dean Downing.

The teams invited to race the 2010 Halfords Tour Series are:

• Team Corley Cycles
• CyclePremier.com – Metaltek
• Endura Racing
• Team Ireland
• Kuota – Road CC
• Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta
• Pendragon Le Col Colnago
• Team Raleigh
• Rapha Condor Sharp
• Sigma Sport – Specialized

“The influx of new and highly competitive domestic teams signing up to the 2010 British racing calendar has left us with a very large task to select the best of the best for the limited places available,” said Mick Bennett, technical director for the Halfords Tour Series.

“We believe the ten teams chosen are the strongest field ever to take part in the series. It will make each and every race a true crowd puller and treat spectators to the very best cycle racing that Britain has to offer, as the teams battle it out to be the UK’s number one.” Bennett concluded.

The Halfords Tour Series takes place from 25th May to the 24th June in 2010 across ten cities, and sees ten teams of five professional cyclists battle it out to be crowned the best team in the country.

In each round of intense, fast paced and gladiatorial circuit racing, the teams compete to place their top three riders in the highest positions.

Team work and tactics are always to the fore in this unique race format, in which only the very best team can eventually take overall glory and the sought-after Bob Chicken MBE Halfords Tour Series trophy.

UK cycling fans will once again be able to see their heroes perform on the tight city-centre circuits and via prime-time national TV coverage of each race.

The Halfords Tour Series events for 2010 will be launched individually at regional launches across the country, and announcements regarding venues and television coverage will be made very soon.
