White spirit then flush with water. Gt85 to disperse water. Leave to dry and relube.
Is that so wrong??

Never use water on a chain.

I'm sure Petrol is better, but I have always used White Spirit.

White spirit is getting quite a few votes - even Dan Fleeman uses it!
