Cervélo TestTeam, ex-Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell and former England rugby captain Will Carling all feature in teams riding The London-Paris 2010.The teams riding from June 24th – 26th have been announced today and include an exciting mix of cycling’s big names and charity challengers. The full list of teams riding is: personalbikefit.com, DHL, Tulletprebon Dynamos, Tulletprebon Wheelers, Science in Sport, Cervélo TestTeam, Right To Play, Glasshouse, Tsunami, UK Youth, ICAP DebRA and Geoff Thomas Foundation.

Cervélo TestTeam is one of the world’s leading cycling, chief development officer, Tom Fowler, said: “Our participation in The L2P is an extension of the growing relationship between cycling, the TestTeam and business which we foster in the Beyond The Peloton Network and I will be riding the prototype of the R5ca bike in The L2P.”

The L2P director, Sven Thiele, said: “It’s a great coup to have a top name like Cervélo TestTeam riding The London-Paris 2010. Our event comes just a week before Cervélo TestTeam rides in this year’s Tour de France and to have them riding with us in the build up to the Tour will be fantastic.”
Carling, who is riding for the international children’s charity Right To Play, said: “The L2P is the Six Nations of cyclosportives and it’s going to be every bit as tough and demanding as a bruising encounter at Twickenham. But I’m training hard and we’re determined to make it to Paris.”
Nigel Mansell has the backing of HRH The Princess Royal for his L2P ride which is raising funds for UK Youth. He said: “I’ve heard about The L2P’s legendary atmosphere and we thought we’d get some real inspiration from some of the great cyclists taking part. I’m really looking forward to getting on The L2P starting grid and I know that arriving in Paris with the peloton will be an amazing experience.”

Science in Sport are The L2P’s nutrition partner and are riding as part of their sponsorship package. SiS swept the board last year with the red, yellow and green jerseys, and the best team title.

Pete Slater, from SiS, said: “The L2P is a fantastic, well organised event and this is the third year that we’ve been the ride’s official nutritional partner. There’s no doubt that nutrition has an important role to play in sports performance. As the official nutrition partner, SiS team members will once again be on hand to encourage riders en route and pass on their experience of riding previous L2Ps. They’ll also advise riders on how to fuel their ride, remain hydrated and speed their recovery so that they make it to Paris and enjoy the experience and achievement of the event even more.”

Tullett Prebon (www.tullettprebon.com), one of the world’s largest inter-dealer brokers, has two teams riding in this year’s L2P. The company operates as an intermediary in wholesale financial markets facilitating the trading activities of its clients, in particular commercial and investment banks.

The business now covers seven major product groups - volatility, rates, non-banking, treasury, energy and commodities, credit, and equities. Tullett Prebon electronic broking offers electronic solutions to these products and The L2P Tullett Prebon team riders work in all areas of the group’s activities.

It’s the first year that Tullett Prebon have ridden The L2P. Riders in their 20s to over 50 are taking part and their experience varies. Some have competed in Iron Man competitions, while others haven’t ridden in groups before.

Chris Pugh, desk manager of crude oil North Sea at Tullett Prebon, said: “The L2P is undoubtedly a tough mental and physical challenge which is what makes it such a great event to be part of. It’s rare to have the opportunity to participate in a professional sporting environment whilst still an amateur but this is on offer with the L2P.”

Keeping 350 riders on the road and united with their bikes and baggage is a huge logistical operation and for 2010, world logistics leaders DHL have become L2P partners and entered a team in the ride.

Mark Taylor, DHL, business director, said: “DHL is looking forward to joining The L2P as logistics partner. We know how precious the bikes and equipment are to the riders and the successful running of the event and we will be taking good care of it all. Our business strives on working with interesting and challenging supply chains all over the world, as well as on-time delivery and we're delighted to be assisting such an exciting project as the journey from London to Paris.”

Ex-England and Crystal Palace footballer, Geoff Thomas and his former Palace team mate, John Salako, are riding to raise funds for the blood cancer charity LLR. Thomas, who survived leukaemia after a stem cell transplant, is riding The L2P for his third consecutive year.

Thomas said: "I've ridden the Tour de France route twice and The L2P is the closest you can get to matching that experience. All the hard training in the English winter is always worth it when you pedal into Paris in the sunshine. Team Geoff Thomas Foundation is raring to go this year."
The London-Paris 2010, staged by HotChillee, the global media, marketing and events company, is the UK’s premier cyclosportive. It is recognised as the closest the amateur rider can get to the Tour de France experience.
The ride covers 550km in three days with a rest day in Paris. The Daily Telegraph recently ranked The L2P as one of the world’s top 25 events, alongside the London and New York marathons. The event has also been named in the top ten of adventure events for women.
Individual riders include Tour winner Stephen Roche, Olympian Rebecca Romero, ex-pro Magnus Backstedt and ex-Team Sky sports director Scott Sunderland.
This year’s L2P partners are adidas, Science in Sport, Specialized, Cyclevox, Sigma Sport, Mavic, Ambrosia, Map My Tracks, DHL, C37 and Sportique.
