Time to go contract poaching again methinks. All those zeros and still couldn't do as well as Agritubel last year. Spin that.

Thinking about the bigger picture I'm actually quite pleased that Sky haven't been able to achieve instant success. Wouldn't reflect well on the sport I reckon if they had.

I blame Hugh Bris.

Beyond the sporting objectives, I wonder what the commercial objectives of the sponsorhip were and to what extent those who have funded the venture feel those objectives have been met.

Judging by the profile achieved I expect Murdoch's people are pretty happy with the first year. Unlike the owner of Agritubel, I doubt very much that they funded Sky merely because they love cycling.

I'm pretty sure most sponsors have a love of cycling deep down, you'd have to. It will be good for Sky to reflect, the road is a very different beast. There is always the ToB.

Here maybe, is it the same in France/Italy/Spain/Belgium? I dunno, but I reckon they spend as much time talking about Sky as we do about Milram.

In Holland and Belgium they seem to talk about the Sky team fairly regularly. I dont think that matters though as you can only get sky in England, and Italy.

And in Germany, where the press don't like cycling much at the moment?

Murdoch doesn't own Sky... It's a PLC... At least at the moment. The Murdoch family are major shareholders, but not the outright owners - nor are they in charge of the publicity/marketing (of which the team (& the other funded BC schemes) is not the greatest expense either).

You mean owners then - Wink OK so technically not 100%owners but that's not the test (they could be even if it is a PLC - being a PLC does not mean you are publically owned - do you have figures on ultimate benficial ownership? - these are a matter of public record I just CBA to look them up) but are you telling me that shit happens in that organisation that RM doesn't aprove of ?

Maybe the Sky project is too small to flicker on his radar. My own (admittedly limited) experience of dealing with billionaires would suggest to the contrary, i.e that he would have quite a good handle on what was going on (commercial results - not wins).

Is his son ( the one who got "CENSORED" by his sister for control of the business) not hands on with the team and in bed with Brailsford.

Rupert Murdoch isn't even head of the News Corp anymore... Do keep up!
