I just got around to reading the Alex Dowsett TT article in this week's comic. Apparently, training for the Worlds, he was told he needed to work with power (not speed) as he was in the habit of going off too strongly. Too strongly being ...

1,000 watts for the first few minutes!

Is that even possible?

It does sound very high, but then again I averaged 620W for the first two minutes of a hill climb that I rode a while ago, and I dare say that Dowsett is more than twice the cyclist that I am Very Happy

Ah, I've missed the retarded questions from this place.

In a word; no, that's not even close to being possible by any human that has ever lived, assuming we're defining "a few" as 2 at a minimum.

Good to know that its not just useless chippers that feel the need to exaggerate their power numbers
