Voted by Post, as it saves me printing it off to take it to the race.

needs to be an incentive, like I mentioned on other post.

Depends how big the race is. Getting the start sheets for the Magic Dragon series timetrials is ideal, since they're only midweek tt's and it's not too serious, I'll look at it once on the screen and see what time I'm off and that's all I need it for. But if I'm riding a stage race or something then I'd like a tidy start sheet in the post because I'll take some time to read it properly at home, then take it with me to the event. I suppose I could always print it out myself Rolling Eyes

I dont usually mind either way.. as long as they arrive in plenty of time.

This year I recieved a start sheet for stage race - 1 day before it started..
I recieved an e-mail reply to confirm that my entry had been accepted a week before... but I had to search the net, find info on the previous years race and hope that the courses HQ's were the same this year..
If they werent, Id booked a nice hotel nowhere near the race.

I don't mind either way.

However when I organise then I do e-mail all those I have e-mail addresses for and the rest get posted. Any e-mails that I get a bounce back from get posted.

This saves postage and allows for more money to be put into the prize money.

1. Where are you posting from to this forum ? Confused
2. I am guessing but in Nottingham they have a few libraries? Shocked

(Every library in the UK is part of UK Online - proving superb internet access for free....)

I'm not trying to pick on you George - but I do find (myself included now! Sad ) that the older generation resist change the most.

I like the idea of being told you are in - and THEN a start sheet going out but via e-mail or on a race web site is much better than snail mail IMHO....

Hate to sound like a Lib Dem but I think nowadays you should get both. If you get it by post and leave it at home then you can log on to the web somewhere and view it. If you have a Blackberry then so much the better. Perhaps it would be better to have a box on the entry sheet that enables you to request that it isn't sent by post to you at all in order to save wasting paper etc.

If I get it via snail mail, I feel more important because no-one ever sends me letters; because I am a no-one.

to satisfy all - default could be email, if you want a paper copy then you have to supply s stamp addressed envelope.

Its quite simple, if you don't want the start sheet by e-mail, don't fill in the e-mail address. If its filled in I presume the person has agreed to an e-mailed start sheet.

That seems like a good idea to me - and it also seems like a good idea to have it set up on the race entry sheet.

Like Bob D says' The times they are a changin" - and who says the sport needs to stand still?

how do you prefer getting your start sheet?

EARLY !

(Preferably before the event)

It is nice when the organiser posts it on a website somewhere (like most of the Welsh TT's go on Welshcycling.org) then if the postal copy hasn't turned up, you can check it.

Email Startsheets is a blinkin' nightmare - I sent them out for a race I ran 2 years ago, of the 50 odd people that gave me an address on the entry form, about half were returned as being wrong, old, non-existant, etc. Shocked

It's only as good as the info the promotor happens to have from the Rider - Oh, and have you seen some of the handwriting on entryforms ??? Rolling Eyes
