Riding in a group with someone who hasn't got mudguards is like passive smoking - who wants someone elses cr@p?

OK they may add a little bit of weight to your bike, they may catch the wind slightly - but who getting the better training effect?

They also help to keep your bike cleaner so you do't have to wash it so often.

Half the people in our club are heavy smokers then Wink

And the lowest of the low!

hmm Question Compliment Idea

Perhaps that's because they are racing Rolling Eyes
Its still muddy and wet mostly. I thought the point was that people were upset about a bit of water in their face? So you are saying that people don't like it in club runs but in a race then it doesn't matter?

Yes I'm aware of that thanks. Good job you told me so that I didn't have to rely on 30 years of bike riding experience.

You've had those rollers for quite a while then Wink

I know you would have thought he had learnt how to do it properly by now

I don't understand the structure of your sentance - 'I know you...'. Do you mean that you knew what Des was thinking: that I had learnt how to do it properly? Quite a gift.

In a race you have to put up with it, as I can't see people racing on their touring bikes. But as for club rides that is a different matter, where getting sprayed with oily road muck can easily be avoided.

doesnt have to be like that, SKS guards come with a plastic clip for the front guard that releases the stays in the event of the guard getting jammed.

do you train in shorts when its warm enough to race in them? I don't think so. But the last time you trained it was probably warm enough to anyway.
Sorry about the punctuation but the boss was nearby. It was nothing compared to some of the half wits on here. As if I could read minds, thats just stupid.

Are those clip-on guards any good, if your frame doesn't have eyes?

Well they're the only option if you haven't got clearance. They are a bit fiddly but otherwise ok. However they are only good for keeping the rider dry as they are not very long.

There are only four places you should be riding in the winter with no mudguards - Manchester, Newport, Calshot and in your garage on the turbo

One good reason for having mudguards is that it keeps the bike clean. However, I havn't got round to fitting guards yed and we have had a few wet mucky rides and I have discovered that the bike only gets really filthy once Very Happy So If you don't clean the bike you don't need to bother with mudguards Very Happy Very Happy
