well they do actually, there's a big 4 page/ 7 picture report on a winter training ride that was GPS measured to 100 miles. This ahead of such articles on Wiggins/Wyman/Southam.

well the write-up on www.hilly23.com on p60 is worth the £2.20 on it's own but the rest of it may be used for toiletry duties in the future

it is CAMPAG and its far better than shimano.

BTW don't the yanks call it campy, not campie s in campyonly.com

You know, as a "Yank" I can't really give insight on the spelling...perhaps as TrackSprinterBabe puts it, it has always been "Campie" and not "Campy". Then again, perhaps we knew that and are just too lazy to type the "ie" when we can just type the "y".

When I was fifteen, my mate's non-cycling dad used to call it something else, usually along the lines of 'No, I'm not buying you all that Campagny stuff you keep going on about.'
Poor Dil. He never did get a Campag throughout bike. Sad

A guy at work used to call it Campanola. And when questioned he was adamant it was called that.

Having started racing in 1980 with a training partner from England I was taught by him that is was "campy" since that is what we all rode back then. Hard habit to break but I think it is instilled enough for me to continue with that spelling------and as I am able to have Campy 10 Speed on one bike and Dura Ace on the other I am happy with any and all spellings----just let me ride them and I am happy !!!!

Of course, send over a set of high end Campagnolo and I will spell it in what ever fashion that makes you guys happy !!!! Laughing Laughing

Well, given that the correct pronunciation is close to Cam-pan-yolo, 'Campag' doesn't make any sense at all...

Campagnolo - with a hard 'g' if you're an anglophone.
Campag - for short, in the UK anyway, probably nowhere else. Had never even heard the abomination that is 'Campy' until a couple of years ago.
Campa - for short in much of Europe, and definitely in France (pronounced compa). Have never, ever heard Campy in France except for Ebay chancers trying to sell to the US and Japan.
Campagnola - if you're an illiterate idiot. Fortunately there's no shortage of these, which means a succession of ill-listed bargains on Ebay.

The thing is, though, it isn't actually bliss. Sad

Quite why 99% of Brits can manage a passable pronunciation of lasagna, yet a sizeable minority will order taggliatelly as an alternative is a mystery. But either way, I can't remember the last time I heard anyone say Cam-pagg-nolo...

I do know one person who seems to think that the Tour of Italy is sponsored by the former provider of benefit cheques...

Maybe some european languages pronounce it in a funny way, rendering the G mute....

European languages such as Italian, for example javascript:emoticon('Wink')
Wink

Campie just sounds wrong (and American), but it's actually closer to the mark than "campag" - which doesn't make sense as the gn is pronounced together like a single letter in Italian (think "Gnochhi")

I vote the 3rd option - "Campa", as used on the continent.

Campa - In France

Campag - Uk,

I'm forever having to correct our non-American guests who call it Campy.
