Having done the Fred Whitton over the weekend and now I've got The E'tape coming up, which is the hardest? I don't reckon it can get much harder than the FW but I've heard someone say the E'tape is hard and I know Fleet Moss is solid. So come on which is the Hardest?

Oh alright then without a swim before it and a run after!

Reckon the Wensleydale Triathlon might give the Norseman a run for it's money

From my point of view the Fred Whitton is the hardest, there are more climbs and they are closer together. The route for the Etape du Dales is hard, but doesn't come close to the Fred Whitton.

Having said that I did the Whitton in the comfort of my car, and will be doing the Etape the same way, doing the photographs.

i found norseman hard because of a lot of different things. it was only my 4th triathlon and i had never swam that far, cycled that far or run a marathon before for one.

the swim was cold and took over an hour, not an ideal warm up for 118 miles on the bike. the weather on the bike was cold or wet or both, and the hills were never that steep, but seemed never ending. (there were 3 3mile climbs one after an other and then a 5 mile climb in the second 60 miles. the first climb goes from sea level to 400 feet in 25 miles.)

then there was the "run"

it was just a long day.

i actually found the ride on sunday harder than the ride at norseman, but norseman harder overall for obvious reasons. (could you have run 26 miles after that on sunday?)

All Fred Whitton photos will be posted out 1st class this evening.

You should have them by Friday.

The photos show the suffering that went on, but we tried to stay clear of the top of the climbs cos bikies pushing their machines doesn't make for good images.

Top of Newlands was good as 99% were able to ride it.

First year I did Marmotte I had never done anything as hard... was in tears at the finish... pushed myself a bit too hard... too little training, too heavy etc etc.

The 2nd time I was chaperoning my Bro round and did find it easier... but I think because I knew what was coming.... For me - the climb out of the small town at the top of the Telegraphe is the bit that does me in .... I find that bit VERY hard....

the vogue at these events is to wrap your official number round your seatpost so not to hide the decals on your expensive bars or to affect aero dynamics.

apparently.
