Not whether you think he can or not, the question is whether you want him to win or not.

He is without doubt one of the most talented stage race riders in history. He, like but not as much as Raymond Poulidor, has been unlucky both in the races and in coming up against a superchampion.

There will be a separate poll later in the year to that effect Tracey. Along with a referendum to change the name of the People's Front of Judea to the Judean Peoples' Front.

I really want him to win. He has been a great rider from a very young age and despite coming up against Armstrong at his peak has always got stuck in and not just ridden for second place without a fight. He has also won several other major races (Olympic Champion aint bad) and until recently had never finished worse than 2nd in a Grand Tour. But most of all he seems human as well. He is fallible and wants to live his life as well. What surprises me is everyone saying he is fat. Life is relative - I saw him at the Merckx dinner last year and he is not fat at all - he just carries more weight than some of your 6% fat cyclists and his photos make him look fat when he is not. he is also a great person - he took time out to chat to lots of fans and the thing that struck you most when you met him was how normal he was. He is a great ambassador for T Mobile and I really hope he wins this tour and then coasts towards a well earned retirement in a couple of years when he can go skiing - which he loves but is not really allowed to do - and eat a few pies and some of the pork scratchings I will send him.

Sorry I am a mardy git, I don't reallly want to see him win. I don't think that he ever came to the tour in the best of condition against Armstrong and I can't help but feel that if he finally pulls out all the stops and comes to the Tour with the form of his life, in many ways it will be a shame. He should of done it when faced with the best Tour rider of a generation. Whatever happens this year he will never have shown his true potential.

See....a right mardy git

I was always ambivalent about Jan, but over the last four or five years he's really grown on me. I like his attitude, and the fact that he has a 'colourful' background, but most of all it's the way he always does a storming ride in the mountains in the Tour.
He is The Jan! Worship at his bottom bracket and beg for forgiveness for all the pie-related gags you have made at his expense!
