Having moved behind a break yesterday in a race I was just wondering how many riders knew that the gap is a least thirty seconds if the assistant comm moves behind the break.

I always thought it was 45 seconds. How about setting a bit of a quiz up on rules of racing for us? Very Happy

30 seconds is the minimum a break has to have before an assistant commissaire would move behind the break.

60 seconds is the minimum a break has before a team vehicle is allowed to move up to the break.

Obviously, a slight touch of common sense comes in to play and normally one would watch the break before moving behind it in case it came back or summat.

Stuart is right in essence, 30 seconds for commissaire and possibly neutral service, at least 60 seconds for team cars. Getting out is sometimes left a bit closer, sometimes down to 45 seconds for team cars, 30 seconds for the neutral but down to 20-25 seconds for the commissaire car. It all depends on how quickly the gap is opening and/or closing and the road situation, whether it's easy to get out or not. One thing any rider can be certain of, when the moto-comm comes out it's probably close to all over!

The is the point - if the comm is behind the break then really the riders should keep working through and off and not bother looking behind. If the car moves forward then as you say - start worrying bout the health of the break.

I told the riders they had over a minute's break yet they still looked behind all the time.

Not really a big issue - just curious if riders know all about the movement of the convoy or not.

Yeah, I don't think anyone really knew. We had some idea when one of the cars pulled over before Islip, but we didn't know a time until Dave Coulson went and asked you Stuart, even then we were a bit unsure of what the gap was, hence I think the reason everyone was going through and off so well.

Yeah they should have fellas on Mopeds riding round with orange lights on their helmets with backboards telling you who is in the break, how many and how much time.

Laughing
