Online only.
Used to be a regular reader of Cycling Weekly, but its not for me any more due to change of content.
No one magazine would cover my cycling interests - which include reading about domestic and international competition in road, track and MTB events, news on cycling facilities, and updates on legislation affecting cyclists.

Most people conduct their research now by reading their choice of magazines in Tesco.

Isn't there a circulation figure available for most mags, I would imagine VR is about as representative of general readership as asking the ctc which ones they read...? If I'm going somewhere on the plane or train I will buy pro-cycling, cycle sport if I'm desperate but the rest are shallow trash.

Why do you want to know?

I'm with Hans. If I can't read it online I don't bother.

Just interested to know how people find out about cycling events like the Tour of Britain, just interested to see what kind of audiences this attracts and if magazines are a usful medium.

Pretty much everything cycling gets discussed on here, VR, and you get some real insights from those that still do and those that did. Very Happy

Blowncherry - as you're a new poster I should point out that KJ is not 'with me' in a grubby way, just that she agrees with me. Most people eventually do, as I'm the voice of reason on here.

Well Cheryl,

Like many cyclists I used to read Cycling Weekly avidly... but a number of years ago (coinciding with a change of editor...) the standard of reporting about UK racing started to decline to the point now where almost nothing gets reported... So a few years ago I stopped my subscription and can't say I miss reading it at all (I discovered a few of them still in their wrappers... so that shows how badly the standards had dropped that I wasn't even bothered to open them up!).
I never really got into reading the Monthly mags... but might occasionally get one if travelling away. What one depends what's on offer and has the best looking articles in it.

So on the whole I get most of my info online now -loads of info available out there (and on here of course).

Paul

I used to read Procycling due to the fact that it had a very mediocre cartoon that I enjoyed reading which, on occassions, was almost funny.

However as it no longer features this, I flick through the cycling magazines in WH Smith and then buy viz

In 'Cycling active' this month amongst all the other dross and flyers enclosed there is a booklet entitled 'Bike Events 2010 - Cycling for everyone'. This is a lie as there isn't a single bc, tli, lvrc audax or pro race listed. I was bloody outraged after spending 4.00 on it as you might well imagine. Twisted Evil
