I was ready to ride in on the mtb, but as I said elsewhere J. insiststed I drivwer her car and drop her off on the way. Pity as I enjoy the small bit of off road I can do when I use the mtb to commute in snow.

Just as a matter of interest, what's the distance? Is it all on treated roads?

Only 11 miles from the City here, even the main road was still snowy at 8am.

About a foot of snow up north so had to resort to the mtb-only cos the guards get blocked up on the fixed.

7 miles.

Walked to main road, not as clear as usual as no fookin buses Mad

After the North Circular Road, Green Lanes was fine. Passed all the buses lined up at Wood Green Garage - what a bunch of useless tossas!

I didn't, mainly cos living in a $hithole there are too few gritted roads, and of course shockingly poor standard of snow driving on the few that are. (plenty of muppets tailgating at exactly the speed limit).

Mine was 10 miles today - I added an extra couple of miles to my normal route to pick up a gritted main road a bit sooner than usual, but the fresh thick snow was perfectly rideable too. In places the gritting hadn't really worked due to the wind blowing snow across the road at a rate of knots. It'll be worse when all the compacted snow and slush freezes tonight I think. Confused

it has to be said, it did take me 1hr20 rather than an hour and that long on an mtb on the road into a headwind is a bit of an @rse.
