...is tremendi

I was recommended this by a triantelope so naturally I was sceptical. I've taken the tabby-lets before and felt they did make a mild difference but this liquid stuff has been amazing. I literally feel, physically, 10 years younger. The usual aches and joint tiredness I'd experience has been improved hugely.

I know it doesn't work for everyone but I'd recommend giving it a try for a month or so. I found the tabby-lets would take around 3-4 weeks to start taking effect but it was much, much quicker with the liquid stuff.

Mind you, it tastes like sh't but thats only a very small price to pay.

Anyone else take it / tried it?

My father, aged 86, swears by it Smile although it does seem to clash with his blood pressure medication.

He and the step mum also swear by flax oil and green lipped mussels.

not to mention the complete lack of any reference to joints when you do this:

It's a perfect example of quack vs. real medicine, first hand experience vs. bulk trials.

Glucosamine is unproven.

I have severe arthritis in my knees.

I take glucosamine.

I think I feel better when I do.

So I don't care about proper controls etc etc.

Martin do you not ingest anything that doesn't have a scientifically proven pedigree?

Of course. I just don't believe it until there's proof. the research i'm doing is into something that isn't proven yet (otherwise i wouldn't be doing it...) but there's a good reason for thinking it might be true. a random statement like 'walnuts are good for joints' i regard with some suspicion unless some supporting evidence is provided. I looked, and there isn't any, so i can only guess that someone just made it up.

If your question is really 'martin, do you ever just accept any old tosh someone comes out with and would you like to f**k off' the answer is 'no'

Very Happy

walnut leaves do have anti inflammatory properties:

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6T8D-49H15FS-2&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=f32247ec982920f91cdb4f159c34a956

but then so does ibuprofen. no mention of the nuts themselves.

interestingly, though the article was quoted here:

http://www.mamaherb.com/degenerative-joint-disease-home-remedy-using-walnuts.html

they don't seem to have actually read the paper as to which extracts actually have the intended properties. this line in particular:

However, only the ethanolic extracts of Helleborus orientalis roots, Juglans regia leaves, Laurocerasus officinalis leaves, Nerium oleander dried and fresh flowers, and Rhododendron ponticum leaves exhibited potent anti-inflammatory activity against carrageenan-induced hind paw edema model in mice without inducing any gastric damage.

which would seem to imply that boiling the leaves either won't extract the intended chemicals or will cause gastric damage.

I'll stick to neurofen myself.

PPS I like the taste of walnuts. If they do some good, fine, if not, as long as I don't eat in excess, they shouldn't do me any harm.
