I cycled throughout my second pregnancy at age 36, until I was knocked off by a guy who pushed his sons pushchair into my frontwheel on a busy street, yelling at me that he had a baby on board Rolling Eyes Well duh Smile My son arrived a tad early thanks to this at 38 weeks. I didn't race while I was pregnant although people do.

I also taught exercise and weight training up until week 34.

The core temperature is the thing to watch and not to take up an activity you haven't been involved in prior to the pregnancy.

I had already had a troublesome pregnancy in my twenties and lost two babies so I talked at length to my doctors and midwife before I continued with my exercise regimes.

I saw Beryl Burton racing when she was ready to drop Denise.
18 years later I ended up in a swimming pool in Venezuela with her for a midnight dip while Benny Foster pi55ed over the top of us Shocked

Centre of gravity changes after about week 20 so cornering can be fun. Might need to adjust handlebar height dependant on bump size.

At least 2 women in our club rode until heavily pregnant. They used to use an hrm and not go above a certain figure (as determined by a doctor).

I remember watching Denise racing when she was around 18ish (as I'm sure every other red-blooded male does!).

Doubtless someone will stumble along and mutter that she's no longer 18, but she will forever remain thus in my memory!

Thank you for sharing your memories, Legro. I've heard that bathing your legs in a saline solution after racing can help recovery, and I admire your dedication to research in such matters!

Trained through both pregnancies....in fact went into labour in the cycling cafe with the first...that cleared the cafe very quickly....just be sensible, put the bars up as the bump gets bigger...steady away....I wouldnt race...far far too risky..and as for the potential dangers of getting knocked off whislt riding the bike...well, most pregnant women drive..which is statistically just as risky...the other bonus is feeling fitter and fitting back into your clothes after the birth...makes you feel very smug !! Smile
