both weight gain and weight loss are listed as rare (less than 1 in 1000) side effects on wikipedia:

Bloody hell thats frightening. It's an anti-depressent but carries a possible suicide risk. Keep posting every couple of days so we know you are OK. Shocked

A lot of anti-depressants do....the ones I was on after I had my kids made me so ill - i had every side effect possible for about a week then it all just settled down.

I felt like I was a drug addict going cold turkey or summat....hallucinations, vomitting, tremors, involuntary twitching, total loss of appetite, dry mouth but drooling at same time, couldn't keep my eyes open but couldn't sleep either, no concentration, palpations, totally on edge all the time & jumpy....but glad I stuck with them, cause once side effects had gone they helped me a lot.

Best anti-depressant is a couple of spoonfuls of MTFU. Hope this helps

Sounds like the old 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' cure! Glad you came through it anyhow. Wink

Whilst not disagreeing with you at all, I do think BB has a very good point. I have no medical basis for this and am only going on my own exoeriences, but to me anti-depressants appear to often be prescribed by doctors looking for a quick solution and go no way in tackling the real causes. Therapy and/or counselling is often the real solution. Obviously I appreciate that some conditions like schizophrenia and bi-polar are caused by chemical inbalances and need *CENSORED* to combat them, but normal depression doesn't.

Amazing level of expertise on here.

You should all look into the ST training opportunities in psychiatry. No one else wants them...

Sorry bad choice of words, (it is early, I am tired and slightly hungover!), there is obviously no such thing as normal, but I'm sure by the jist of your comment you get my meaning.

Based on my treatment idea, I could deal with 30 patients an hour. You'd coin it in if they were private as well

And the mortuary would probably have to deal with them fairly soon after.

Yes, giving whingers at the surgery two asprin and telling them to come back if it doesn't clear up has turned into a course of anti-depressants and telling them to come back if they survive the side effects.

Those who really need them, still need them.
