would these be ok, or do clinchers tend to come off at low pressure

They'll be fine - a lot of riders use clinchers nowadays.

I suspect the b/b height is too low for the Manchester 'Velodrome Police' to allow? - http://www.nationalcyclingcentre.com/documents/Track%20bike%20specification.pdf

Many of us on here have ridden bikes with b/b's lower than the 'spec' (me included) quite safely, however I think the Langster's b/b is lower than normal as it is a 'road' fixed, so would be wary using it in any bunch race.

Don't move house the day after a race meet.

it's not advice you'll use often, but it's f**king good advice nonetheless. Embarassed

I see

was looking at the Fuji Track Pro if things went well on my first few visits

Caird park in Dundee is my closest though I think, dont think there is much/any banking.

on the grass it's more hitting your pedal on the inside that's the problem, not the banking - you'll be leaning over far more than any track i know of is banked.

The same advice will also apply to Edinburgh and Glasgow though.

advice that will save you lots of money in the long run if you take up track racing - sell your 130BCD chainset and rings, buy a 144 BCD chainset (record, dura ace, miche advance).

All 'proper' track chainsets are 144 BCD. Not so much less flex as tradition (although there will be less flex as well).

If you have built up a stock of 130 rings then probably not an issue and you'd be OK to stick with them. It does mean that however that you can't borrow rings of other sizes if need be - again not an issue if you have all the sizes you require.
You can't run 1/8th rings in 130 - only 3/32nd. Again OK for a lot of people. I would however run a specific 1/8th track chain rather than a 3/32 whatever width rings you have.

nope, it's just that everyone who rides track regularly uses 144 so you can borrow/swap rings - 144 rings tend to be rounder as well as most of them are better quality, so you will get fewer chain problems. Dura ace rings are the best and you can pick them up on ebay for £20-£30 if you are patient. also, use a 1/8 chain for the same reason - it's less likely to come off, you've got a lot more leeway with adjustment and you can borrow 1/8 rings of you need to.

If you're going to Halkirk, be prepared cos it is FAST. A nice track and you will need to use anywhere between a 76 and 81 inch gear.

Watch out for Highland Pro, too. He'll sit on your wheel until it's time to sprint past Laughing
