I think the issue is one of qualification. I don't believe the rules have changed but to be a driver in a UCI race requires no experience and no qualifications.

I have particular experince as I spent a week in a team car with a particular team manager who as well as being a nob, drove like a nob.

Qualification to drive in the race: he had a BC licence with "Team Manager" on it!

I'm surprised there's not more accidents. It's insane to drive on the right and have the driver with one hand on the wheel and passing stuff to the cyclists as they pass the window. Try that in the UK and you'll get a careless/dangerous driving charge.. and before you ask, no I don't mean driving on the right Smile

It's crazy the number of cars & motorbikes that are around. What the hell was a TV car passing the riders on such a narrow road? I understand the organisators and team cars need to be with the riders but what about the other cars, bikes, etc. I think a lot of them just don't need to be there.
I heard that the organisation are restricting the number of motorbikes to around 12 next year. Perhaps they should start thinking about restricting the vehicles as well!
