You'd never get that past the UCI, Dave.

It is possible to avoid getting dirty and wet by using mudguards.

For riding alone they need to be full mudguards with a flap for the front guard, which means having a bike with mudguard clearances. None of this race blade or crud roadracer nonsense, might as well not bother.

For riding in a group everyone in the entire group needs full mudguards and long mudflaps, front a rear, something that rarely happens. Of the people I train with this only happens once per week max in the winter.

Otherwise I don't think there is any point in having them.

When I was alive turning up at a club-run sans mudguards made you distinctly persona non grata. These days I use them simply to protect blardy expensive Assos bibtights.

I was only commenting on the fact that 90% of respondents to the poll were in favour of using mudguards. As you have have never been ironic or humerous in any of your previous posts that I have read, perhaps you could prefix any further musings with an I for irony or H for humour, so us dullards could be left in no doubt as to your nature of your postings ?? Thank you

Surprised there is any argument mudguards with flaps are a must. I am with SMB and Den Haag. SMB was even bullied into a new mudflap the other week. Some clubs are old fashioned enough to insist on mudguards all through winter. Cool
