I'd done a loop out to willoughby and saw you and swainy go under the bridge before returning via old dalby/six hills, then dropped down into burton. A nice 30 miles, tea and a chat then back up the hill home.
I think I'd earnt my cake Wink

The Eureka cyclists mecca on the Wirral has got waaay above it's station. You now get asked if you want white or brown bread for your beans on toast for goodness sake. And, you get a little Belgian biscuit if you order a cup of coffee. Pretensions of grandour or what! Very Happy

There is a new cafe near Sibthorpe at the Portland Fishing Lakes roughly half way between Hawksworth and Shelton.

Plenty of room and good value. I had B-o-T (with 5 slices of toast Shocked ) and tea for £2.60 Laughing

thanks for that, sounds like a good alternative to gunthorpe lock (now poshed up and way above it's station) or hardys at farndon (ungrateful cows, who have forgotten who pays their wages)

We found an excellent cafe on the way back from skeg last Sunday

Hansons chocolate house in Folkingham main street
www.mrchocolate.co.uk
A15 halfway between sleaford & bourne

two coffees + 2 of these lovely cakes just £11.10

perfect after 156 miles that weekend

those prices look quite cheap to me. I mean coffee at £1.50 a cup would be a result where I live.

what are you complaining about ?

Pot of tea for two ..... seventeen quid

B&B + evening meal for two..... £522

Next year I suspect my mate will be choosing the venue for his wedding anniversary meal Shocked
