No this is not true.
However, it is a great example of the benefits of attending the Race Organiser training as it'll dispell all the rumours and hearsay surrounding the delivery of BC events for potential new Organisers and help us to start moving forwards again in the Region.
For anyone who may be interested in attending, the Road Race Organisers Course will take place in Newark on Saturday 25th September and is free of charge to British Cycling Members. Please contact me to reserve your place.

Cough, it's an e not an a in Miller. So the days of wheeling my mother out to do the licences are gone, along with my father marshalling and the cat driving the lead car. _________________ Hoping the race organiser will give me a postcode to find the headquarters hidden in the wilderness.

I once got into trouble for having a bike checker that wasn't a BC member, even though he was an ex-1st cat. (in the days when we checked bikes).
It would be interesting to know just who does and who doesn't have to be a BC member - marshals, drivers, etc. |

The drivers do, the marshalls (as far as I know) don't, the commissaires do (I think), the signing on person doesn't. Is there anyone else - the organiser does but I think BC give them membership if they aren't already.
It's not as complicated as all that really. BC are quite forthcoming with advice but you are reliant on the goodwill of people like Ray.
The big one for me is circuits - I reckon it's mainly lack of circuits that is behind the lack of local races. If NEG etc help open up new or reopen old circuits for use that'll be good. |

i have a few people interested in organising 2 possibly 3 races next season on the sutton bonnington circuit probably in evenings through the summer all being well.
Unfortunately i have been too busy business wise this year, and yes as mentioned early our race last year was cancelled due to the feds not being happy or insisting on a maximum field of i think 20 riders unless we paid a couple of grand for their escort services. _________________ sign up to our newsletter and enter the competition: www.ioptix.co.uk |
