Clocks go forward on Sunday, so Wilko has asked me to put a note up saying that the traditional Lowdham Chaingang will be starting on Wednesday 31st March 2010.
Usual route which can be found by scanning through this East Midlands Section.
Everyone welcome, no club affiliation, so just turn up.
Leaves at 6.30pm from Lowdham Island.
I won't be doing it so I can't answer all of your questions. _________________ Hoping the race organiser will give me a postcode to find the headquarters hidden in the wilderness.

How long's the route for the chaingang? I'm pushed for time massively at the moment, so may be a flying visit for me!
I may even be forced to drive there and back.... |

Depends on the light. They usually head out to Fiskerton, then left to Southwell and over Oxton Bank and back to Lowdham. As it gets lighter, they extend the route to Averham. |

It's a 24mile round loop from Lowdham Island.
You may need lights back from Lowdham depending on where you are going.
They will be going all the way to Averham.
It leaves promptly at 18.30 from Lowdham Island (A6097/A612) and heads East along the A612 to Thurgaton then takes a right to Bleasby.
You won't be the only one to park up and get their bike out. Don't be late as you'll need to be good to catch them.

Why? Is the Beeston/Long Eaton one not fast enough for you? |

I am really suprised that no one wants to tear round a circuit of unlit lanes at 23 mph at the end of October.

It starts after the clocks go forward in April and generally runs until Mallory kicks in, then dwindles.
For the winter racers and club run champs head for the Parrots on a Saturday morning or the various Beeston/Chilwell/Breaston chaingangs in the week. _________________ Hoping the race organiser will give me a postcode to find the headquarters hidden in the wilderness.
