.....Mudguards be made compulsory for winter training group rides? _________________ Murphy's Third Atmospheric Law of Bike Commuting is that the headwind you encounter on the way to work will shift 180 degrees in direction about 10 minutes before you decide to home. |

Maybe you need to define a group ride, and also when exactly winter begins and ends otherwise the answer is no. |

Or if a few friends want to ride without then fine if they are all happy with it. Definatly a yes though for rides where "guests" can ride too, ie most club runs. |

Correct answer. I put on race blade type mud guards when its wet, to keep my backside dry. Glasses are a must to keep the *CENSORED* out your eyes. _________________ You can't polish a turd |

We should all ride winter bikes built out of gas-piping tubing, with mudguards and a 69" fixed. That should be the law. |

Guards keep you dry after rain on wet roads for example, if you get wet and cold it will be much harder to stay out on longer runs.
I see this all the time when riders with no guards have to cut the run short coz they are wet and cold. _________________ _____________________________________

Really? Isn't that more to do with their being inadequately dressed? You may have a point when it comes to dry day/wet roads, but in the rain surely everyone gets equally wet.
The key to safe and comfortable winter riding is good-quality water-&-wind-proof clothing. Guards are no substitute for that. |
