Who do you feel was the best performing home nations cyclist at the Commonwealth Games?
Tough call for me between Steve Cummings and Ross Edgar.
If there's someone you feel I should add to the list then please PM me. _________________ "so if MM wants to suck down 16mg unfiltered tar-laden cancer-causing , he will! Queally? Killeen?
I voted for CUmmings as to get 4th in the RR on top of winning the team pursuit is pretty good.
Hayles for medalling two events (ditto Manning)
Davies for coming back from injury
Queally for getting silver 6 years after winning olympic gold
Killeen for delivering on the promise of 4 years ago and being world class
Vicky P for consolidating her position in world-class sprinting
Scotland and England for showing strengh in depth on Team Sprint
Isn't it great to have a choice? _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. Expect anything than relentless ridicule for no good reason and your expectations are set way too high |

I did actually put queally's name on there but it doesn't seem to have registered. _________________ "so if MM wants to suck down 16mg unfiltered tar-laden cancer-causing , he will! Especially as in the finale he saw the move go and was ready and willing to go with it, simply unable; but he's a big lad isn't he ?
For me though the man of the hour is Cav; not the absolute best but what potential. Young but savvy, up there in the RR although a trackman. A great future. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

I've gone for Cummings, bronze in the individual pursuit, gold in the the team and 4th in the road race.
Ross got 3 medals , but I have seen him sprint better (hope he'll peak for the worlds in 3 weeks time ) and there were a few good riders missing in the sprint events (Hoy, Mclean, Staff saving themselves for Team sprint)
PS. Rob should get an honourable mention for his scratch race leadout |

Emma for her medal and her tenacity in the road race after her accident last year. Victoria for her sprinting. Rob Hayles for his track medals and his honesty. |

What about Paul Manning? quiet unassuming chap but soooo fast! Rob Hayles got to admire him, Emma Jones fantastic come back, Liam Killeen and Oli Beckinsale for bringing a minority branch of the sport to the fore and so the admiration list goes on and on..... |

I saw that after her accident she could trivially easily have been crippled but for the quick thinking of a passerby stopping her trying to sit up. Made my blood run cold. So yes, fair play to her.
But why did she 'ride' in the break? It handed it to the Aussies. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

Since when has mountain biking been a minority branch? _________________ http://www.facebook.com/MikeVaughanCyc

No way, in the old days there would be 5'000+ at a national plus 15 / 20 big trade tents. |

Can we keep this thread on track? I wanted people to share what British performances had inspired them. _________________ "so if MM wants to suck down 16mg unfiltered tar-laden cancer-causing , he will! Cav gets my vote
He rode a good points race featuring heavily in the action, won a Gold for the IOM in the scratch showing amazing speed (if with a little help from his friends) and placed 7th (I think) in the RR showing great all round ability and he's only 20 - A big future ahead of him. _________________ Blame me for robbing Peter but don't you blame Paul |

Worth giving a quick plug to Andrew Roche who crossed the line looking totally spent having clearly given his all to help Cav. _________________ "so if MM wants to suck down 16mg unfiltered tar-laden cancer-causing , he will!
