Fred, A bit of advice about your downhill technique: You need to make sure that your brakes are fully off. One problem that can happen is that your calipers are not centred correctly. What you should do is to reach forward on the first downhill section and grasp the caliper firmly and try to recentre it. Usually what happens is your fingers get caught in the spokes. Repeat with the other hand. This will ensure that when you get home you are unable to type embarrasing rubbish on a keyboard and argue with your team manager. |

Just like to say,
I think it is worth thanking Andy Hayton for putting on a great race. It is the best organised divisional championships i have ever race in before, and the course was fantastic, a proper course!!!!
The programme was excelllent, and the race support vehicles, HQ and prize presentation were great and well organised.
Regards

Thanks mate,
Gave it as much as i had yesterday, dont like mincing around following wheel suckers. I Believed i could stay away and win it, but wasnt to be though as the break worked to bring me back, wish they could have just attacked each other to bits, i know i wouldnt have been caught if they had done that!!!
Expended just under 6000 Kcals in race yesterday, might explain why i felt so ill last night!!!

Yeah, good ballsy ride Rich. When you were on your own with just over 2 laps to go, you looked like you were going 5 mph faster than the break ! I think you were the 'main' threat and Clarkey and Sharman had to work together to 'dispose' of you !!
I thought I could 'ride' the Div's on little training and virtually no racing - how wrong can you be !!
Well done to all finishers (inc. Fred) No flat respites and the heat !!! _________________ www.metaltek.co.uk

Thanks Rich and everyone for the feedback - obviously couldn't have gone ahead without the assistance of all the marshals, offi cials, riders and riders helpers etc..As for the race itself, credit to you and the other riders who made the race what it was! from the little that I could see in the lead car it seemed like a cracker!
Hopefully you will all be back next year for a similar event - though probably not the divs...
Cheers Andy |

Yep, well done Andy H - The Divs should be on a course like that !! I'm sure the laps I did were about 15 miles long As for the Simon Goodge Memorial Trophy, the 'insight' into him (included with the Start Sheet) was a brilliant epitaph. He must have retired from racing as I started and hadn't heard of him until he passed away and a close friend of mine (Nigel Hay) relayed some of his exploits (at home and in France) to me. I'm sure his family would be proud of a 'worthy' race and Riders !!! to do his name justice.

Can i just say that i did finish with Rodders, in 19th and that does make me the highest placed junior, sorry if i did not put that i was a junior on the start sheet but i was sure there wasnt a first junior prize so i didnt feel the need. (Thanks for pointing it out Tranter, ull get ur gilet soon mate) I also asked if there was a first junior prize at the end but my belief was confirmed
A great race indeed Andy, well organised and a good, hard course, shame i didnt have great legs on the day!
Well done to Clarky and other top finishers, look forward to the race next year!!
