Can we have a sticky in this section so that all the local chaingangs can state their meeting place, day, start time, rough route etc. Now that nights will be getting lighter.
It would be good as a reference for all the local lads.
Thanks
Good idea.
Done.

Derby
Tuesdays 6.45 Little Chef, Little Eaton (just off the A38 at the foot of Abbey Hill).
Route - Little Eaton, Denby, Ripley, Ambergate, Belper, Derby
Until April 3rd only due to not wanting to clash with evening TTs. Might shift to another day after that. |

Nottingham
Wednesdays at 6.30 pm
Meeting at the ROKO Health Club on Wilford Lane.
These rides continue throughout the year. In winter, a 30-40 mile loop around the South Notts villages. In summer, they go a bit further usually alternating between going SW towards Beacon Hill and Shepshed or SE towards Harby Hill.
Currently attracting 4-6 riders but get more in the summer, and split the group into fast and slower. |

The ROKO chaingang is mostly Sherwood riders - Matt Shaw, Rob Stevens(Wheezer) and George Thackray are the 3 regulars with Jacko, Paul Monaghan, Pete Walton, our Steve and a few others joining in occassionally. They try to average at least 20 mph with quite a few hills thrown in.
I've also heard that there is a chaingang around Hucknall on a Tuesday night with Scot Gamble and a few others. |

Trouble with hilly chaingangs is that they are not flat out fast, less people will tap through and it will split up too easily.

Would be nice to get the Wilko's old Lowdham run going again.
Bulcote layby - Lowdham Is - Thurgaton - Fiskerton - Left to Southwell - Oxton Bank - Oxton Island and then back to Lowdham or straight up to Ollerton Road via the B6386 and then left to finish on the top of Dorkitt Head.
Trouble with hilly chaingangs is that they are not flat out fast, less people will tap through and it will split up too easily. |
Animal has tried several times to resurrect the Lowdham chaingang, but it's never lasted very long due to lack of support. Wilko's started riding again but does most of his training on the turbo nowadays. |

I think Wilko's unhealthy lifestyle has been kicked into touch. According to his mum, Phil went to the doctors and found that he had dangerously high blood pressure, so packed in smoking straight away and started riding his bike again. |

It had been more like 7 over the last month or so as not many out, but will be going back to 6:45 now. Should be changing routes next week more than likely, weather permitting. _________________ sign up to our newsletter and enter the competition: www.ioptix.co.uk |

Bit short notice I know (thinking about tonights) but the leisure lakes ride, roughly how far how fast (and whats the route if I get dropped) Wondering if I can hang on, get round and still have time for a take-away when I get home.
Presuming it's 6.45? |
