RIP Pantani |
er no he's not, but let's not let this thread degenerate into another dr g thread |
Yeh Pantani,
Managed to upset both Indurain and Armstrong - one because he wouldn't gift him a stage that he hadn't worked for, and the other because he did |
therefore legend!!!!!!!!!!! you got to love the guy!!!!!!! |

ok then, classic climber - Andy Hampsten - won a Giro D'Italia and a stage of the Tour on Alpe D'Huez and the best young rider jersey at the Tour and the Tour of Switzerland if memory serves me right _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. *sigh* ok then - Lucho Herrera lit up the Tour in the 1980's, Thierry Claveyrolat was a similar jack in the box type climber, Jose Maria Jimenez was spectacular in the Tour of Spain and if you're looking for annoying Italians who'd shoot off and irritate everyone then look no further than Claudio Chiappucci _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. You've never read his biograhy then which details virtually all of his blood tests and would suggest he was EPO even as a amateur. The guy also had no sense of sportsmanship. Only rider I dislike more is tricky Dicky.
For a view of how disliked Pantani is you should have joined in on the Italian club run i rode alongside out of Florance in 2000 and heard the comments made about Pantani to my mate who just happened to be riding a Bianchi. _________________ www.kentonrc.co.uk |

actually, Hampsten's performance in the 1988 Tour of Italy eclipses ANYTHING that Pantani ever achieved (1st overall, King of the Mountains and 2 stage wins) especially THAT stage over the Gavia pass in the snow.... _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. No Pantani was a cheating lying little *CENSORED* addict who flew up the hills with chemical assistance.

i like pantani because he annoyed armstrong . but he was a massive doper, but then again, name me 10 riders from that period who were successful and clean?
as for skinny riders, i think di luca is quite stocky which is why he always looks ill during grand tours as he has to lose so much weight. _________________ Real men don't spin

Just cuz he was a cheat doesn't make him any less of a legend, good or bad, legends are legends! Sure, it makes him much less of a sportsman but thats not what the discussion was about!
Back to the topic- Simoni to win today unless Di Luca has made a full recovery from yesterday!! _________________ 2nd place is the first loser!!! |

He didn't win THAT stage, Erik Breukink did.
I should've known better than to mention Marco Pantani on veloriders. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Matteomjb |
