We did try 3 or 4 years ago, but getting people to help was like pulling teeth. We promote time trials and the odd cyclo-cross and MTB race.

There are clubs with an active RRing membership who don't promote. That's the problem.

What we really need is a road race league like Surrey league, or CDNW, where everyone does their bit. The odd club promoting races here and there is just peeing in the wind.

organise the meeting and we'll (Sherwood Pines) turn up and agree to oranise at least one race, just like the old east mids league of the 80s Very Happy of which I both rode and organised many Shocked

Officer Gob , i ride for a team in Yorkshire , but would be interested in organising a Road Race east of Clay cross , maybe round the Tibshelf ,Pilsley area . Ive always thought the roads round there would make an excellent Road racing circuit . Would permission be given in that area ? as the roads are fairly quiet .

used to be a race or two round there, I sometimes (ok, not very often) go that way home from work, good racing roads IMO

People like Kieth Butler became 'real legends' by organising many races Wink

What round Tibshelf way ? Who organised them ? Are you getting mixed up with the Holmewood circuit which V.C Chesterfield used to organise ?

I rode a race late 70s that went thro' Pilsley, which just like Holmwood aint that far from Tibby.

Actually, you only did it once (though we're very grateful that you did, as we were on the verge of cancelling). Andy Wilson was cheif comm for the second one we did.
