To kick off what will surely be a classic year.......
Sherwin - ".......the overall winner is usually an individual......". I love the use of the word 'usually', and apparently team sky are wearing green kit to "promote green cycling". Can understand that - cycling is so polluting.

Thought I'd never say it, but I find their commentating a bit tired now. That, and their liberal doses of Americanisms, which they seem to drop in a bit too regularly to be accidental (don't get me wrong, i love Americans, mostly).
I think it's all those nicknames they slot in too. Is Hushovd really known as "the god of thunder big Thor Hushovd" to his mates, all the time, everytime they meet him? (maybe his mrs introduces him that way?)
"Big George Hincapie" what is it with the 'big' thing?
I'm just glad "the silent assassin, big Deny Menchov" isn't there! |

Everything annoys you Dodders! Did you ever hear about that lad from Clay Cross that claimed points falsely once in a Chipper race down Southern Way!
And the lad from Manchester that was so annoyed with it he became a insomniac! _________________ Clay cross RT www.claycrossrt.co.uk

Really? Not in my book; Harmon, Kelly commentate all day, not just highlights, and make it interesting, too. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

ITV4 are live every day too. It's pretty amazing we get the choice. Not that many years ago we only had 30mins highlights on C4 each night - make that about 15 mins racing minus ads and features.
Anyone else noticing the ES studio team? James Richardson, Big Maggie and Uncle Fester - obviously sponsored by Garnier.

Go back a bit further and there was only brief highlights on ITV's 'World of Sport' programme.
Biggest advantage to me of ITV4's coverage is that it is subscription free. |

Eurosport every time. Thecommentary team seem far more in touch with things than Phil/Paul.
Good example yesterday, link to Harmon/Kelly lost, Carlton Kirby just slotted in seamlessly from the studio in Paris. After the H/K duo had commentated and chatted all day, with asides from CK. A really good team withy the added charm of Sk's interesting accent, phrases and clear insights. _________________ Mexican underwater chili eating champion 1957

More surprisingly CK didn't use his stock phrase at all

The way both are produced/edited is what separates them for me. If you watch the live broadcast ES is ok if you can get past the fact that Sean Kelly can't speak English very well but the highlights on ES are shocking. At least ITV4 give a summary of what's going on every time they skip out a chunk. _________________ ...hating Dave Hinde Cycles since 2009 |

by going on about 'Tommy Danielson' all the time, as if somehow his presence in the tour was going to make a blind bit of difference to the overall result or any of the other classifications. I couldn't name a more overhyped and yet so insignificant inclusion in the race. _________________ Team VeloRiders- like Rock Racing, only far more perverted. |
