I was reading my cycle sport and came across the article about the Pro-Tour. At the bottom they were listing the disadvantages.......They don't think it is a good idea. What do people on VR think of it? Very Happy

Races like the sprig classics used to get the Spnaish teams ducking out, not really their sort of race. This allowed second div local teams to get a ride wich suited them and their sponsors. I don't think this is going to happen now.

I think it is a good thing as cycling needs a change and to move on. Also it will give teams something to aim for.

This is the last year there will be a World Cup winner, from what I understand.

I think it is bad. Creates a "premiership" and only those in the premiership get tv exposure and support. Great for those in the premiership but rubbish for those outside it. It just takes the fight there is now to get into the TdeF and applies it to the whole season. If you are not in the sponsor has no reason to put up money.

Yeah, but what will happen to the classics? Will they be shown on the T.V now, or not because they are not part of the World Cup?
