RIght, enough bitchin'
Let's get back to what we do best:
Who's going to win Flanders at the weekend?
I'm going for Hincapie - I do it every year and every year I'm crestfallen but who cares? I just love floggin a dead horse! _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. I'd make Rabobank favourites with either Freire or Erik Dekker. If the favourites cancel each other out, a dark horse might have a chance. Devolder (discovery) |

you know, I was tempted to put in a Robberbank rider but for all their strength in depth and their ability to win virtuall every other Classic out there, when was the last time a Rabobank/WordPerfect/Novell rider won Flanders? They never seem to get it right in this event.

Rebellin?
Or a dark horse... Axel Merckx? _________________ "Well done, you are 100% absolutely without a shadow of a doubt spot-bollock-on correct." - Tucker

I think Rebellin's too 'light' for the cobbles. The next 10 days belong to big, powerful rouleurs who weigh in at 80kg and can 'bosh it' over the bergs and across the cobbles. rebellin and others like him come into force once Paris-Roubaix is over and the roads go up....
Good call on Merckx though, not someone I'd of thought of myself. For all his pedigree I've never rated him as a rider and I think he's always hankered after Fleche Wallonne and Liege instead as his April targets... _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. Rich
Why have you included O'Grady. Have you not being paying attention? He's a trackie and therefore talentless, and arguably his whole existece is worthless.
So I'll go for him _________________

Blimey, looking at the votes, no-one's gone for last year's champion Stefan Wesemann (also podiumed at P-R a couple of years ago) or even the two-time winner PVP.
What's wrong with you lot?!?!?!??!!?!? _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. Expect anything than relentless ridicule for no good reason and your expectations are set way too high |

PVP is a bit long in the tooth now. I would be surprised if Wesseman got a second one.
I have gone for A.N. other. I don't know who it will be, I just did not think it would be one of those listed. |

Plenty of light riders have won Flanders recently: Bartoli, Bugno, Sorenson. Is Bettini riding? Must have a chance, if he is. Unless a Belgian outranks him in the Quickstep pecking order. |

By memory it was Bugno in '94 (garish Polti kit)
Bartoli in '96 (MG-GB)
Sorenson in er, 98 ?

Here's another long shot... Leon van Bon. If a little group sprints it out and he's still there. _________________ "Well done, you are 100% absolutely without a shadow of a doubt spot-bollock-on correct." - Tucker

Tom Boonen (Quick.Step) was one of several riders who crashed in the wet and muddy first stage of the Driedaagse van De Panne. The Belgian came down when he ran into teammate Wilfried Cretskens, who crashed after 50 kilometres. Boonen bruised his back, pelvis, left elbow and leg, and also required stitches to the middle finger of his left hand after it was ripped open, exposing the tendon.
Boonen will start today's second stage of the Driedaagse van De Panne, but is worried that his injured back and pelvis will prevent him from being at his best in this Sunday's Ronde van Vlaanderen.

Looks like Boonen's not going that well eh? _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. Expect anything than relentless ridicule for no good reason and your expectations are set way too high |
