No excuse at all coming from such a solid cycling background. I suppose that lurking somewhere in the dark recesses of your mind are the words, Campy, Shimmy, and worst of all drivetrain, which is an oxymoron, for a chain. You're on probation. Any more of this and I shall send a letter to the sec. of the Abbotsford. Has your Dad got any nearer?

The school I went to taught me that Metric was a decimal system... so for me it is correct...

We also were taught about other number bases..., but metric is about base ten (aka decimal!)

So are a lot of things, but it won't make a difference if you've seen the weather forecast and it's a facer on the long climb, you change the desperate dan one into a bigger pie.

whats interesting about this poll is how many of you prefer metric.
Most of the people I know young and old who prefer imperial which is more familiar imho when talking to other bikies about gears

I tried one of them and it didn't fit on my Dansett player. The hole in the middle was to big and it got scratched by the needle.

Get the events converted... Let's face it, it's much easier saying that you can ride an event with a 7.93m gear than a 100.3"... after all, when you know the metres needed to be covered by one revolution you can work it out with a tape measure... knowing that the tyre depth can have an impact... It's a doddle doing that than having to play with pi and then with the variables of tyre width as well...much more hit and miss with the non-metric method.

Gears are in inches, end of!

I've got gears in my head just like Legro, so no need for a tape measure. Very Happy

Depends how long your cranks are

Doh!!!!!

Oh it's OK - John's in Majorca Very Happy

Have you tried a rectal insert? I believe the local undertaker may be able to assist.

Supositories? Maybe Pascal Simon could pick me up a few.

Metric is a system of units, decimal is number system. There is no reason why you could not , for example, make metric measurements and record the result in hex. Or to put it another way, imperial measurements are usually given in decimal. eg there are 16 ozs to the pound, 16 is a decimal number. If this was given in base 16 ie hex there would be 10ozs to the pound. Campag get round this difficulty nicely by quoting gear-inch in mm!
