Those who know Ian may have already heard that he was involved in a nasty accident whilst out on his bike about 10 days ago. He suffered very serious head injuries, plus broken ribs & collar bone. He has since been recovering at the QMC, Nottingham. I went to visit him this afternoon. He looks quite good considering, but was pretty tired and gets confused occaisionally, although this is normal for a person with his injuries apparently. The nurse said that he had made really good progress since being admitted. He is being tranferred to the DRI tonight.
Fingers crossed that he goes on to make a full recovery.

He was riding on his own through Shardlow, in daylight, when it would seem he was hit by a car. Ian is a pretty careful rider, and as others have said, one of the nicest blokes you could meet. He didn't deserve this. Still, on the bright side, it looks as though he is making good progress which is the main thing.

Hi Harvey,

Next time you go to visit him please could you pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Is he at the DRI then now? Presumably Pedley must be able to pop in and see him?

Col.

Sad always comes as a great shock to hear of someone you know and ride with , and for anyone involved in an accident wishing a good and speedy recovery. thanks for the update Harvey. its good to hear he is reasonably consious now. al tho still slow in responding to conversation, which hopefully might be due to the pain killers if his on them rather than his head injuries. matt jennings and lisa called into see him on saturday evening. and said similar to you, took him a while to respond ,tired as well. but it was good he recognised them. my friends wife who Ian does work for visited thursday, said he was eating dinner when she got there, so he,s got some appetite. she said Becky seemed to be coping best she can. Ian,s one of the smoothest and strong bike riders ive seen, takes alot to hang on to him altho he does,nt realise how much pain he creates, really hope he makes a full recovery to dish out more pain soon. and Best Wishes on behalf of Beeston Road Club. i pressume he has been moved to Derby now Simon Pedley is now cheering him up, so does anyone know which ward he is on. Twisted Evil Smile

I was upset , shocked, and saddened to hear of Ian's accident. Good luck on your recovery mate, and I hope the family is coping OK.

I have a few painfull memories of following Ian's wheel in Derbyshire, during the winter, and in particular a very painfull 4 up TTT. Wink

All the best for your recovery, and hope to see you in the future when I get up to Nottingham.

Just come back from visiting Ian. He's come on loads since I saw him last weekend. Almost back to his normal self. They're keeping him in a bit longer because he still can't remember the accident, plus his balance isn't great. Its just really frustrating for him being in hospital. Becky & the kids have moved while he's been in and He can't wait to go home to them & his new house Exclamation
