Well I can't believe the amount of suck-ups to Jan here, even though Ivan dominated the Giro and has won the Criterium International and placed top 10 in L-B-L this year. Apparently a lot of you still have faith in a guy who last won a 3 week Tour back in 1999.
Ah well, who's going to do better then Jan or Ivan? |

The standard line is I think the correct one:
Armstrong prepared 100%; from the podium of one tour to the start of the next, and then performed to 100%.
Jan typically prepared 0% in the autumn, poorly in the spring then attempted to cram it all in the last three months. Such is his talent he could race himself to form, not to the sag wagon, but would already have lost the race.
This year I think he's done it the Armstrong way and thus will win, Basso or no Basso; doing the double is for supermen which he has not yet shown himself to be.
Has anyone done the Giro/Tour double for their first tour win? If Basso does it he will of course then be a superman! _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

so he hasn't crammed it all in to the last 2 months this year? The Giro was his 2nd race of the year *CENSORED*! |

Basso everytime for me, never been a fan of Jan I'm affaid. |
well contrary to popular opinion I actually quitelike Der Kaiser - he's the same age as me and looks cool when fit. All I ever wanted was for some good closely fought battles with Lance during his reign and we only got one back in 2003.
Unfortunately Jan's lack of professionalism has robbed us fans of seeing his talent at it's best
I for one would love it if the eye-tie and the Bratwurst-Stuffer could go head-to-head this year and make it a great closely fought Tour..... |

Doh! Of course, his magical year. n I was thinking of all the multiple winners, didn't think of him at all. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

shock! the guy has a personality and doesn't behave like a robot!
It's his career and the people who employ him have known this all along!
You look at your own cycling club and there will be perfect examples of your armstrongs and ullrichs with a much lower level of talent!

I'm going for Basso. I think that he wants it more than Jan and I rate Riis as a manager.
I can remember hearing that Jan didn't turn up when Telecom booked time in a windtunnel as he said the TT was not won by a few seconds. That is true, but I couldn't help thinking that he also let other things go because they were just a few seconds.
Mind you I can't wait for the start. |

Russ, if you're an Ullrich then who is Clayton Velo's Armstrong?
Billy Belcher? (preparing solely for Lumpy RR - see other thread) _________________ Kelly was good, but he never won on Scale Hall |

Must be the only candidate!
or possibly Denis on the carmichael coaching?
Rest of us are larger in size to be politically correct, but big dan's halved in size over the past few years! _________________ training what's that? it sounds like it's overated! |

der Jan rode a satisfying stage today. the skinny spaniard was just out of reach on the climb before the Jan could snap his brown weedy legs like twigs in the autumn wind..
No need either to go guns out on the decent as der Jan has to keep his good looks and is not wanting to end up looking like he has been hit by the ugly stick as do many of his competitors.. Der Jan needs his looks for the conquest of many women in the winter season
Der Jan is ready _________________ Well, don't you know about the bird

I like Baso but won't vote as they are both very talented riders and have their specialized areas. add another option and ill vote. |
