Good race - Shame about the commissaires race control with the horse incident on the first lap - confusion in the break to carry on riding or not. at the start the commissaire had great pride telling us how he'd been known to stop races then when it came to clear communication between cars & riders it was rubbish - should have hung a flag out the window or something.

Am I suffering deja vu? Or was this the same race that had a horse incident on the first lap last year?

So there I was, about 20 to 30 seconds in front of a hard chasing peleton. Down a small descent into a sweeping left hander, hard out giving a it a bit and hoping that a few riders would catch me and the winning break made.

Two lovely ladies on horseback appeared on the right and seemed OK as I went past. What happened next I don't know, but the following car came along side and told me they were going to stop the race due to a bolting horse. A small group of riders then appeared, perhaps 8, and charged up the next small hill. I looked on not knowing whether to join in or sit up. I sat up and waited. The race rolled all together before restarting. Whether or not the break went before the horse I don't know. But what I do know is that if the race hadn't been stopped I would have gone on to score a solo victory, putting at least a couple of minutes per lap into the main group. Wink Laughing NOT.

Apparently so - I wasn't racing last year but a few of the other lads said there was something. There was 10 or so of us who were making an effort to get away just as we passed the horses. One of them bolted & 60 in the bunch had about stop -I had my head down with the break but when i looked back after a mile or so there was a clear road behind. spectators up the road laster said we had amlost half aminute very quickly. horses can't help it but umpiring clarity was a bit bob.

Sad Nevermind. without any umpires there wouldn't be any races

Sounds very similar to last year - happened just in the dip before the little rise up to the finish. Same sort of thing - horse got spooked by 60 odd rider hurtling towards it and bolted into middle of the road / bunch.
