Easy ride on low gears for about an hour (or the journey to work and back)

I think it depends on what you are doing on the next day and how much you did to recover from.

eg. If I was racing or training next day after a race I would just do nothing and ensure I replaced carbs, would be nice to put your feet-up but can never seem to acheive that with a family.

If I was resting next day and not racing the day after that I would do the same as above, but if I was racing in 2 days I would do a recovery ride the next day.

I agree with you on this one

Tony Doyle used to advise 30 minutes rollers after any training/race. I like an nice hot bath after a ride and said that as I would taper the ride in to a steady state recovery ride in the last 30 minutes. I wouldn't just stop after a burn up though! Ooh no! Shocked

A light road ride is good.

And afternoon naps make you feel great.
