Does anyone know of any chaingangs in the Beeston or Long Eaton area? I am a member of sherwood and go across there every now and again but it adds an extra 20+ miles onto ride!
Any info on times, places and average speeds would be great
thanks

Long eaton chaingang meet Tues and Thurs at Leisure Lakes bike shop just over the motorway. Attracts good numbers (15+ most weeks) And can be fast. Average 20+ which includes my commute thru the traffic from Nott'm city center. But it depends if 'big hitters are out and what mood they're in. Shocked
Flatter routes and 40+ miles round trip in the summer, hillier but shorter in the winter. Where are you? I leave the city at approx 6.10 for a 6.45 meet
BTW I'm also Sherwwood member!

Add another 10 miles on and get to the Little Chef, Little Eaton, Thursdays leaves fairly prompt at 6.45

I think both have a steadier group - I have only been out on the Long Eaton one a couple of times this year so couldn't swear that's the case every week.

We do a pre-chaingang ride which leaves Bramcote at 5 on a tuesday and thurs which is a fairly steady run, you are more than welcome to join us, be a good way of breaking yourself in before doing the chaingang. PM me if you're interested.

the green jersey hasn't changed hands, shall we say. Was a good night last night, hope we didnt upset too many regulars but maybe it is now time we rode together over bridge and through Breaston then split into 2 groups somewhere between Breaston/Draycott, maybe the railway bridge so we dont upset the others but still get a good workout.

Presume the route will change with the clocks next week?
Then I'll guess there'll be a steady Beeston run from Attenborough, the slightly faster Chellaston lap from Breaston and then the fast lads go another way again when there's enough?
I can never figure it out and just tag along occasionally.

Best you rider struggled a bit last night and got dropped in the wind, fought his way back in the pack with a cunning ascent of the short cut, only to be dropped again once it wound up past Draycott. Still his tyres held out better than others so didn't get the lantern rouge - sorry Bob.

I imagine the proceeding will have incensed the old boys and they will never ride with us again. However as Julian mentions the routes change after next week and they will have forgotten these dirty deeds by next winter.

So will there be 2 meet points? Attenborough AND Leisure Lakes? 'Cos the Leisure Lake contingent used to leave at 6.45, which is before the other meet get there Confused

Just to clarify the situation - Rob was not suffering on either Tuesday or Thursday night. Hopefully now I won't suffer too much this Sunday Wink

Thank you.
