If your route includes a cafe stop - always carry a spare base layer and change it in the cafe.
Make sure you maximise drafting and shelter on clubruns by inviting some women along _________________ World Masters Drive HillClimb For Taureans Category C Champion 2013.

I don't recommend changing base layers part way through a ride. _________________ 'You are a free woman. You will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, de-briefed (that you should be so lucky ) or numbered. Your life is your own.' |

Picked up from a former Peace Race rider.
The Olbas Oil one was from Geoff Cooke. _________________ World Masters Drive HillClimb For Taureans Category C Champion 2013.

I like your thinking, but don't forget these are women cyclists, not women _________________ World Masters Drive HillClimb For Taureans Category C Champion 2013.

Changing base layer means the body has to warm up again.
Inuit take base layers off only when they are indoors for an extended period, not when they're going out in the cold again. _________________ 'You are a free woman. Really? If you sit in the cafe with damp base layer, you'll get cold. Then go out in the cold with damp clothing -- not good, surely?
But if you change base layer the first thing you do I find it's firstly more comfy in the cafe and less cold on leaving.
It's worked for me; but nowadays I don't have stops except in Majorca so it doesn't apply. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

Base layers designed to work dry or wet aren't they? It's not the layer that keeps you warm it's the trapped air between skin and layer. _________________ 'You are a free woman. If your base layer is so wet it needs changing, you have too much clobber on. Key is to get the number of layers correct in the first place. _________________ John McClelland's victory in the motor paced event with Derek Marloe on the derny was a thing of beauty (Oldmanof) |

Also keeping the speed down to about 13mph which negates the need for (a).
Is this a valid assumption? _________________ I was being chased by a police dog last week, and made the mistake of trying to escape through a little tunnel, over a see-saw and through a hoop of fire. It finally caught me as I was weaving in and out of some sticks. |

Even I ride faster than that I guess it depends on which women are out on the training ride. Personally I pick a nice muscled bum to sit behind and given the excellent view don't really notice the cold. _________________ 'You are a free woman. I've done this on mega-club runs before (where I arrive at the fcafe a perspiring mess). Lack of public conveniences at the cafe meant I stripped down to me sports top in the cafe (and put on a dry base layer). A couple of the older fellas from the club looked like they were going to have heart attacks _________________

Hmm, not a flattering story; unless the young fellahs had actually had heart attacks and were lying dead? _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken
