Anyone know if the cafe at Gunthorpe lock will reopen from its refurbishment before Sunday (26th Jan)?

Suppose if its still shut we could always go the extra few miles to Bleasby

Gunthorpe cafe was open last weekend.

If it's shut, you could also go to Tall Trees, just outside Burton Joyce on A612.

I've heard that the owners of the cafe if they see a whole load of cyclists arriving lock the doors and pretend to be shut. Laughing

They where indeed open and suitably hospitable today for the handful us that ventured out on the clubrun. The predicted rain never fell on us

nice slice of chocolate cake and a mug of (posh) coffee £3:95

Won't be long before a fiver is insufficient for cafe stops...

I remember the days when I used to get cuppa & teacake for a pound note
