|
|
Hi guys
Just looking for a bit of advice.
My dad was travelling on his bike today and hit a pothole, which threw him over the bars resulting in bad road rash, a cut to his leg requiring stitches, a knock to his head, ruined clothing and smashed glasses.
What's the best way of trying to put a claim in to the council? |

Did he get taken to hospital? Is there evidence that he fell at that pothole?
If not they are just likely to deny it and you'll be up the creek.
Sorry to be negative. If there is proof then things are more optimistic, it happened to me a few years ago, CTC lawyers handled it, payout. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

As daft as it sounds put a match box either in or at the side of the pot hole to give an indication of the size of the hole |

* Photographic evidence of injuries, bike damage, clothing damage, broken glasses as well as any marks on the road surface near to the pot-hole (without delay)
* If possible, obtainment of medical notes to prove the hospital/surgery visit
* Any witnesses around? If so get all of their details
* Visit this site, and tell your dad to call them (again, without delay) - http://www.national-accident-helpline.co.uk/ (I used them for my accident)
And finally, I hope he's OK!
Ciao |

CTC also have a 'fill that pothole' dedicated' website so it doesn't happen to another unfortunate. Hope u get a claim off your council and your dad is ok. _________________ We are old we are young we are in this together. Vagabonds and children, prisoners forever. |

As above. Photos, medical report on injuries, don't accept first offer and don't expect settlement until last minute.
And tell your dad to get his thick skin ready as the councils will claim its down to his negligent riding, its their standard response I think _________________ World Masters Drive HillClimb For Taureans Category C Champion 2013.

Mine just went through the legal grind, no problems just slow. Agree on the first offer, though.
