I'm planning on visiting the Alps this year, and need a town/village that I can base myself in that's close to a few of the Alpine climbs.

I'll be Eurostar'ing it and changing in Paris for a domestic train, so proximity to a main line station would be a bonus.

Any recommendations ?

Bourg St Maurice and St Jean Du Maurienne both have major stations if you want somewhere bigger try Albertville
