when will the rttc get nto the present century?

you enter a time trial really early only to be told 2 weeks before that youve not got a place even though you entered well before most of the others... just because your time aint fast enough... when will it be 1st come 1st served... then you cant enter another that same weekend because the 2 week before rule.. why not have online entry? http://www.entrycentral.com/ ? why not on the day entry if the event aint full? its about bloody time the organization got int the real world..

how will anyone ever get a faster time if they cant get on the bloody faster courses?
online entry must be the way. and when you pay the money your in....what is wrong with that.... Rolling Eyes

FCFS is no way to select a field and is specifically outlawed by the CTT. The present system is very fair - fastest 120 entrants selected from those who have entered up to the closing date.

I suggest you enter a "middle markers" event which is resticted to riders slower than a certain time, or perhaps get your club to affiliate to one of the many associations who promote on fast courses.

Should be done on placings, not times.

People with good placings will generally have also recorded good times.

Fast time chasers may do 21 minute 10s and still finish 70-something. Totally stupid, idiotic, false and retrograde to concentrate solely on times

All of the arguments above are flawed, because TTs are pointless.

Unlike RR's of course, where you get "points" for sitting in and waiting for the sprint and the crash Very Happy

Its the feeling of knowing you've done a good ride. You can however get exactly the same feeling from riding sporting courses, road races, track, mtb or even sportives. The difference is that most testers can do a good time on a DC without having to lose weight and still be minutes behind the winner, and think that it then matters.

Because nothing beats the JOY and THRILL of riding on your own up and down a dual carriageway for 5 miles, and then turning around and riding back. Cycling at its best! Occasionally you might get a lorry coming past giving you a bit of a slipstream, and that's when things get WILD. Cool

Most of the old gimmers who do testing are only a couple of years off meeting their maker anyhows.
Could be a way of solving the pension crisis?

Most of us old gimmers know which side of the road to ride on, thereby allowing events to finish without being cancelled by the police. Crashes in TT's are also rare unlike in RRs where no event is complete without the inevitable rending of skin and bike.

That will explain why so many more riders are killed in road races than in time trials.
Oh, hang on

Because nobody has ever been accused of riding on the whiteline which on a dual carriagewat is probably even more stupid than being on the wrongside of the road. And look at the restrictions and traffic counts to get a course approved.

Playing the safety card on the subject of testing is somewhat shortsighted.
