SHABBA

New cassette after 1700 miles? Are Campag ones made of cheese or summat?

Yes

I wrote that knowing that Mr LM uses shimano.

Well thanks for the advice chaps but I have decided to not replace the cassette as I have been told by someone in my club who works in a bike shop that only replace the cassette if the chain slips when you are pedaling otherwise its just a waste of money.

Also likem to add what wonderfull links the KMC ones are hey, you can remove your chain for cleaining until your hearts content without the worry of damaging your chain a huge thumbs up from me and I would say that every cyclist should have them.

Yep I know but I also had it confirmed by someone in my club.

you said it was a matter of economics and tucker said that he went for 18 months without changing. I do apologise for not saying that you alsohelped me come the my decision but you did as well. Someone in a bike shop said that you need to replace the cassette or your bike wont work, and you told me otherwise.

Fair enough. As a result of this grovelling public apology, I will waive the standard VR consultation fee of £5k just this once.

Pro-tip - if the person giving you advice stands to benefit from your decision, then ignore the advice.

I've not changed the chain on my training bike for over 2 years!

Why would you? (unless it's slipping dangerously of course!)
