Well, back to the original OP, McCann came 11th overall, and I think he did start too slow, at the first time check he was in 38th position, then moved up to 18th, 13th, 14th and finally 11th.

Wiggins positions at the various time checks were 7,6,6,6,4 and then 21, would he have moved up to 3rd, beating Tony Martin?

Like Larssons and possibly Wiggins, how much was McCann's pacing upped when he was caught?

Great for motivation! (Sheet, better get a move on!)

You fools , the car would be in the position as told by the commissaries. Evil or Very Mad

Do you think Team GB would make such a basic error Question ,
It probably didn't help that Brad chucked his bike across half the road (and the tv motorbike stopped across the other half of the road) so none of the cars behind could get past. Rolling Eyes
This is how you support your rider in an individual time trial.

And, Mr Harmon, I think you should continue to disagree with Bjarne Riis. Anquetil won the GP Des Nations, then the all but official world time trial championships, 9 times.

But setting the field at only 1 minute intervals distorted the runners-up race with too many people getting caught on roads which were quite narrow in places.

Problem was apparent before then - I think he chucked his bike in frustration that his car was nowhere near when he need support.

If there was a fault with the gearchange, then the wireless link still is not perfect. How can that be in a worlds? A simple cable can break, but not when it's new, perfect, and at a worlds, surely. A bike change should not take more than a few seconds, but the loss of rythmn must be deadly.

Cancellera was incredible though wasn't he?

Cadence of around 120rpm I made it, which is at one extreme near enough 80kph on 55x11 or 52kph average speed puts him on something like 55x16

I disagree, Bolt is the fastest man in the world in sports purest form.
That title is far greater than any other in my opinion

Nothing to do with his gears - apparently his chain came off and pushed the rear brake onto the rim Sad

He didn't know the car had been stopped - didn't he have team radio?

During the 4th 20m of his world record breaking sprint, Bolt averaged only 7mph slower than Wiggo averaged during his 4km pursuit win. Fact.

+1

drag strip time trialling means nothing, time trials should all be done on sporting courses really.

Brad runs Osymetric (sp) chain rings. They make any front mech set up a challenge. As well as the rear, because of the changing chain tension

Did anyone see that documentary on the beeb last night "wounded" proper heroic stuff that, you dont see our squaddies having a paddy if their guns wont work they get on with it. Contrast that with seeing brads display today whilst in gb kit representing his country was really pathetic. What do you do if your brake is rubbing...stop and adjust it, it would have taken seconds. I thought our gb riders spent loads of time with gurus working on mental toughness and that they had all been transformed into winners, not on todays display. As tucker would say mtfu....brad.

Poor show then slating the other medalists...read his twitter tonight hes back on the lash poor little lambiekins

Wrong on so many levels. At least two:

1) According to the highlights I'm watching, Wiggo was on circular chainrings
2) Chain tension changes with circular cranks too.

See, ripping it out of people's slightly inaccurate posts isn't exactly a barrel of laughs, is it?

on a race of around an hour it is not unusual, where the riders are seeded differently than CTT events, for you to be beaten by over a minute and you can still get on the podium yourself.

DMc finished 11th in the world championships at the age of 36, quite an accomplishment don't you think?

It's a brand. Amazingly, it's not a typo (unless you include punctuation, which we do'nt).

I cant quite believe how much stick McCann has been on the receiving end off!!!!

Lets face it, traffic laden drag-strips or not, how many peeps have done a 45min 25 on here!?!?!

I also think, he did a commendable ride in the worlds too coming in 11th.
