Hi All,

I am up in Nottingham for a couple of weeks from Monday 5th Oct. I was wondering if there were any rides going out during week nights and possibly the weekend, Rodders has told me about the Chaingang from Leisure lakes on Tues and Thurs.

Cheers Adam.

Saturday Morning 9.45am Lowdham Island (about 8 miles from the city centre - follow the A612 towards Southwell) - the famous (or infamous) Parrot run - don't expect them to wait for you.

Try Mapperley's saturday club run for a good tempo, two a brest club run with a cafe stop. Check their website for winter starting time at Lowdham Island.

Waiting on the Parrots is a recurring theme. A lot of us believe we shouldn't even wait for punctures now, crashes and accidents obviously yes.

Reasons being;

1.We only ever go to 2 cafes, Limes and Leisure Lakes. They are relatively very close from Lowdham as the crow flies, so take the shortest route to get there if you have stopped. Not so good for newcomers or outsiders etc.

2. The group gets massive over the winter, think nothing of 80 riders, which equals more punctures, more stopping and a 50 mile route turns out to be a 4 hour epic.

3. The majority of people can change a tube on their own, why would you want 79 people watching you.

4. The same people puncture regularly (Webby for instance), buy some Gatorskins or similar Wink

Cheers,

I went out on the Tues night ride from leisure lakes last night, I was the one in the Zenith top.

Thanks to all the guys for making me welcome. I won't be able to make Thurs ride but will be out again next Tues.

Thanks for the advice on the weekend runs but I am going down to Northampton now, but cheers anyway.

Adam.

Sunday rides WEST of the city Beeston-Long Eaton area - are there any club run type rides, perhaps 50 miles without a stop. if not, anyone interested in getting one up and running?
