London based Condor Cycles will continue their support of Rollapaluza as bike partner for 2010. The indoor sport of roller racing is enjoying a resurgence in the UK thanks to Rollapaluza, who bring their special brand of entertainment to cycling fans as well as a wider audience. Condor Cycles is proud to support Rollapaluza providing steel track bikes, equipment, components and mechanical support as well as manufacturing special edition smaller frames for Rollapaluza’s schools programme.
“The team at Rollapaluza really work hard running events for charities, local authorities, and corporate customers as well as developing their school initiatives to help promote an active lifestyle to children,” explained Managing Director, Grant Young. “It is a fantastic, accessible way to enjoy cycling. And a discipline close to the heart of Condor and that’s why we are supporting Rollapaluza again in 2010.”
Roller Racing was a very popular sport in the UK back in the forties and fifties with events drawing huge crowds to ballrooms, cinemas and even luxury hotels such as the Savoy.
Rollapaluza revived roller racing in 2000, staying true to its easy to understand format. Two cyclists at a time battle it out on a pair of custom-built rollers connected to a huge dial. Its thanks to the electric atmosphere created by organisers that the Condor frames and purpose built rig have seen over 10,000 riders participate during 2009 including Sir Chris Hoy, Olympic rower James Cracknell and Rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio.
Rollapaluza look set to grow in 2010 with events now happening in France, The Netherlands and even the Philippines.
“This will be the third year in a row that Condor has supported us” says Rollapaluza’s Caspar Hughes, “in the first two years we’ve not had to report a single problem to them, so we’re more than happy to be once more using their fine machines and benefiting from their advice and expertise”.
Condor supply Potenza frames built using Dedacciai steel tubing, handmade in Italy. As a manufacturer Condor have been building true track single-speed frames for over sixty years. The bikes have a classic design to suit the atmosphere Rollapaluza have created at their events.
For 2010 Rollapaluza will again be running nationwide events plus sticking to their roots in London as well as applying their creative ideas to night time cyclo-cross races and other events to be announced.
