But the Parrot run meets at 10.00 am and is led by Ed. You can't call your 9.45 run the Parrott run as well, because that will lead to confusion. It should be called the Doris run, or something similar.

Parrot run is a trademark of the Sherwood Cycling Club and can't be used by anyone else, unless they also have garish green and yellow jerseys Wink .

The name 'Parrot' was given to the Sherwood. Its not Sherwoods to trade mark. The term 'Parrot' was used, much to everyones amusement, in Majorca one year by the then VC Notts collective. The name stuck Circa the days of Cheryl Baker and legend Steve Evans. You need to pay VC Notts for the trade mark Laughing

I think Wilko (Phil) originally coined the term long before our modernised jerseys. It was around the time of BTs "Busby" adverts that no doubt inspired him.

I hear that it went to the Limes for the third week running. Maybe it should be renamed "The sheep run" Exclamation

I though the name came from a speach at the club dinner by David Coupe, but may be wrong.

That's because Doris doesn't like going up hills before a big race the next day, he's started racing you know. Wink
