|
|
British Cycling has today released a set of conditions applying to UCI Pro Tour and Pro Continental teams and riders involved in any National Calendar series event organised under British Cycling regulations, with immediate effect. Riders from these teams can compete in these events providing they comply with the following conditions;
1. A maximum of three riders from any one UCI ProTour or UCI Pro Continental team can ride in any one Premier Calendar or National Circuit Series event. More than one such team may be represented in each event.
2. Such riders cannot have a team car and must use neutral service.
3. Such riders cannot use radios.
4. Any one rider can only ride a maximum of three Premier Calendar events in any one year
5. Any one rider can only ride a maximum of three Elite Circuit events in any one year.
6. Any organiser wishing to accept a ProTour rider in any other event, e.g. a criterium not part of the National Circuit Series or any other event open to Elite riders must have specific approval from HQ, and each case will be dealt with on an individual basis, in consultation with the Chair of the Road Commission.
British Cycling President Brian Cookson OBE said:
"We are of course anxious to see our best riders competing at home where possible, but must be aware that the rationale behind the categorising of teams by the UCI is that the stronger teams should only compete against each other, on the world stage, in the biggest events. UCI rules do however allow some flexibility, and we feel that this ruling is the most appropriate way of handling the matter in our particular circumstances". _________________ www.veloriders.co.uk |
